Empire 500 Five-Star Challenge

I am currently making my way through the 500 movies in Empire Magazine’s 5 Star reviews collection.  Reviews of all of these films will be posted to the blog, and this page will be used to record the movies watched (and reviewed) so far and my own ratings.

Note: I have already seen many of the five-star movies in the collection; however, I am working through the list alphabetically and so will not add these films to the list until I have watched them again for the purposes of this project.

Films watched so far: 69/500 (13.8%)

I have agreed with Empire’s rating 39/69 times.

Wow, you’re the first person other than myself that I’ve found who is blogging their way through this list too!

I started in January last year and I’m currently slogging through the D’s so I imagine it’ll probably take around 3 years to finish the list.

It’s nice to see that that you only agree with Empire around 50% of the time as well (and, Alphaville was indeed an odd one…).

I’ll link you in my blog roll 🙂

I read your blog! Actually, I thought I had commented on it, but I guess not (can I still use baby brain as an excuse when my baby is 15 months?). Three years was my original aim, though it looks like I’m going to be way off…still, as long as I’m enjoying it, it doesn’t matter how long it takes. I’m a bit behind on my reviews at the minute (though I have about five to do) and I’m afraid to say I also haven’t got round to doing a blogroll yet, though I promise you’ll be on it once I do it 😉

I’m still ranting about Alphaville to anyone who will listen. I haven’t checked yet, but I pray there aren’t anymore Godard films in the list. My head might explode, if so.

No worries, I’m often caught behind on reviews (it seems my eyes can watch films far faster than my hands can type them). It’s worse when I genuinely have nothing interesting to say about the film that hasn’t been said before. Still, I plan on watching two more films tonight so I’m preparing for crippled hands in the morning.

Hope you enjoy the challenge and I’ll keep in contact throughout!
